Standards

Professional standards have been in force in our industry for several years to ensure that translation and interpreting services meet the required quality. In the past, translations were governed by European standard EN 15038, under which Intertext was certified on multiple occasions by TÜV Süd. EN 15038 has now been elevated to the level of an ISO standard. As the convenor of the relevant ISO Working Group, Manfred Schmitz, a former member of Intertext’s executive board, was involved in developing the new quality standard ISO 17100 (‘Translation services – Requirements for translation services’) which was published in May 2015. At Intertext, we are already complying with its requirements and will be obtaining the relevant certification in due course. Through Manfred Schmitz, Intertext is also involved in drawing up an ISO standard for the post-editing of machine-generated translations as well as in the development of international standards for conference interpreting, community interpreting, the translation of legal texts, and working conditions for conference interpreters.

Please be assured that although the aforementioned standards are still under development, our translation and interpreting services already comply with them in full.
