Translations

As is customary in Germany, Intertext charges on the basis of the number of lines of text in the finished translation. A standard line consists of between 50 and 55 characters (including spaces). Translations into languages in which the number of lines can’t be calculated straightforwardly (chiefly Asian languages) are charged depending on the number of lines in the original text or the length of time required to carry out the translation.

Alternatively, especially in connection with the localization and translation of websites, it may make more sense to charge by the number of words in the original text. Since nowadays original texts usually exist in electronic form, the number of words can easily be determined by a counting program, enabling the client to plan the translation costs more precisely.

Another possibility is to charge by the number of standard pages, which is the approach preferred by EU institutions. Each standard page is 1500 characters long excluding spaces.

Translations which cannot be charged by the line are priced based on the time required. Before work on the translation starts, the client is notified of the estimated amount of time required.

The minimum price per job is €25.

Please note that since pricing also considers a number of factors such as subject area, the difficulty of the text, its length, the turnaround time requested and the availability of suitable translators, a specific quote can only be given once we have seen at least a representative excerpt.

An additional fee is charged for having the accuracy of the translation of an official document confirmed and stamped by a certified translator.

Any additional external expenses (notarization, postage, delivery by courier, etc.) are charged on to the client.

All prices quoted are net prices and are subject to valued added tax.
